Somatic Sound Healing
Sound healing is one of the most gentle and effortless ways of helping our nervous systems heal.
Interestingly enough, sound healing is categorized as an alternative healing practice, and yet it's one of the most commonly practiced forms of healing out there. Although sound healing might seem very woo woo, it's actually got some really awesome scientific data backing it's effects up.

The Scientific Benefits of Sound Healing
Sound healing has been shown to help with some of the following super cool stuff:
-
It helps to reduce cortisol production (a stress hormone)
-
It helps to increase the production of endorphins and dopamine (happy hormones)
-
It can help to synchronize brainwaves through a process called brainwave entrainment which encourages the brain to shift into states such as Delta, Theta & Alpha
-
It helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the "rest and digest" response. This helps counteract the "fight or flight" state triggered by stress.
-
It helps to stimulate the vagus nerve

What sounds help us heal?
Have you ever noticed how certain sounds or certain people's voices give you goosebumps? Maybe they make your heart feel like it's glowing, or maybe you feel this sense of calm and peace wash over you suddenly. When a sound makes you feel something deeply in your body that's when you know that magic is happening.
There are so many different sounds that help us heal:
-
Nature sounds (such as gentle bird calls, ocean waves, rainfall, & more)
-
Musical Instrument Sounds (such as piano, the harp, the guitar, singing bowls, and more)
-
Our voices (singing, laughing, humming, chanting & more)
Although nature sounds only need to be listened to have an effect on us, have you ever wondered why it is that someone can sing the same song as someone else or play the exact same instrument and have a completely different effect on you?

The Secret Sauce
The biggest reasons why we feel more chills/goosebumps and or healing from one person vs another is due to several reasons:
-
Certain voices create a visceral impact by vibrating at frequencies that interact powerfully with the listener's body. These vibrations can activate the autonomic nervous system, leading to physical sensations like goosebumps.
-
When music is emotionally powerful, it activates the brain's limbic system (associated with emotions), as well as the reward centers. These activations can trigger frisson.
-
The person giving you goosebumps is most likely channelling

What is Channelling?
Although I wish science could easily explain what it feels like to channel, in this case, the best way to understand channelling is to feel it.
Have you ever been doing something that you really love and all of a sudden it feels as if something else, something bigger than you, starts working through you?
Some people call it flow state, other people call it channelling, some people call it creative genius, but whatever it is - it feels like freaking magic flowing through every cell of your body.
To me, that feeling is the universe, god, the divine, or whatever else you call it coming through you. And that feeling is so freaking healing to whoever's channelling it and to whoever's meant to receive it outside of them.

Where Science and Spirituality Meet
If you don't know me very well, I'm a huge Geek when it comes to learning about the scientific backing behind healing practices (both western and eastern). But as much as I love science, I also know for a fact that we're spiritual beings that can't be soul-ey defined by science (pun very much intended lol).
For as long as I can remember, I've always felt very connected to a higher power - a force that I won't ever be able to describe and or understand fully. All I know is that when that higher power comes through, all I can feel is pure love rushing through me.
It feels like the greatest gift I could ever ask to receive and it is something that I could never fully take credit for because it comes through me - it isn't really me doing the work. Where I have done the work, is in my own healing journey. It's a journey that's been pretty freaking brutal lol but that I'm incredibly grateful for.
On my journey, I've had the chance to learn about the nervous system and how important it is in our healing and processing of the traumas we've been through. For me, it's been a combination of both spiritual as well as scientifically backed healing practices that have created a healthy support system for my wounds to find safety in.

What is Somatic Sound Healing?
From all that I've learned in my journey, I decided to create a unique healing practice known as somatic sound healing. This practice combines nervous system regulation techniques along with spiritual gifts of energy/sound healing.
I start each session by guiding you through two to three simple vagus nerve exercises or a brief meditation to help your body and your nervous system feel safe to relax and receive a ton of love from the universe, your guides, and or your ancestors.
After about 5-10 minutes I start to channel energy, light language and other healing sounds which lasts from 20 minutes to an hour (depending on how long we've agreed upon).
Although it's not typical in most sound healing sessions, due to my spiritual gifts, I sometimes see images and hear messages for the people I'm working with. I can see and feel people's energy fields and can draw and or describe what I see to you as well.
The images I see never make sense to me and they're not supposed to. Sometimes I see and have feel people's memories (this doesn't always happen but sometimes it does).
I will always share what I see, hear and or feel with you at the end of each session before I ask you to share anything with me.

Is Somatic Sound Healing Right for You?
If you're ready to be seen and held for all that you are right now and you feel safety, relief, peace, or maybe even joy at the thought of receiving a somatic sound healing session - then trust that feeling and please send me a message by either heading to my contact page or by clicking the button below.
I can't promise miracles - but I can promise to hold you as best as I can in pure love as you open yourself up to receive exactly what your heart and soul are looking for at this stage in your journey.
